I cannot recommend G&R Tree Surgeons too highly. I have now used them five times. This last time it was to cut down six large Cypress trees all about 30 metres tall. G&R came equipped with exactly the right modern tools to do the job and carried it out very efficiently. No damage was caused to nearby property. The site was cleaned thoroughly before they departed. The men involved were very pleasant to deal with, and we consulted each other as the work progressed. I will always get quotations for tree work, but I will willingly pay a little bit extra to have G&R.

Our neighbouring flats had G & R to trim their trees and we thought they looked very organised and tidy. We then asked the residents and they were very happy with the company. We then asked them to do our tree. As we are in a conservation area they did all the necessary paperwork for us and then the tree surgeons who came were excellent. The tree has been properly shaped and trimmed, now looking better than it has since we moved here and there is no mess, all the cut branches are immediately tidied and chipped. Can highly recommend.

G & R carried out some fairly extensive tree work on a very large cedar in my back garden. They arrived as arranged, worked around the difficult parking conditions in my road and completed the job in 1/2 day. Site was left tidy and neighbours' gardens also cleared of any fallen branches. I'm happy with work done on the tree in general. I was however glad that very little grew below it, as the large, tumbling branches flattened several shrubs and flowerbeds would not have stood a chance!

Terrific craftsmanship throughout. Especially praiseworthy: the team leader's cutting of the limbs overhanging the neighbours' gardens - he cantilevered himself, secured with ropes, out from the tree, then tied the limbs so that instead of falling vertically, they remained suspended and swung back over my garden for disposal. We'll of course have to see what the new growth in the spring looks like, but I expect that once the tree grows out, its appearance will be as improved as its invasiveness has been reduced. You can expect to hear from us again in a few years – HGS Trust and Barnet permitting, we will try to avoid letting the tree get away from us again.

I would recommend them. Nice people to deal with and they do a very good job including clearing up. But do make sure they only cut what you want . Their intentions are good. But their idea of what will be best, may not be yours. In my experience it is not enough to just tell the men when they come. One needs to watch and maybe stand over them when there are surrounding branches one does not want touched.

As a result of the November storm we had a tree that was rotten at the base, left in a wobbly dangerous condition. G & R Tree Surgeons promptly came out and surveyed the work and emailed a quotation the same day. They came two working days later to remove the tree. Dealing with their office was very pleasant. The work was carried out very skilfully, avoiding damage to the fence on which the tree could easily have fallen, and also the garden. All residue of the tree was thoroughly cleared up.

At the end of January 2011 I asked Richard Kemish for advice and an estimate for carrying out various items of tree pruning. He is very knowledgeable and obviously has a genuine interest in making sure that his treework is aesthetically attractive. The written estimate submitted within a couple of days was precise and business-like, with full details of his insurance cover. Although I did not engage G & R to carry out the work on this occasion, I would not hesitate to ask Richard to quote next time.

I used this company to fell about 10 trees in a neglected garden. They arrived promptly and worked quickly and carefully clearing the area, (and the neighbours garden where twigs had fallen the wrong side of the fence) leaving the garden clean and tidy. I was very pleased with their service and value for money.
